Dikshika & Pranav — A Decade in the Making

The Brief

Dikshika and Pranav met at university 10 years ago and spent a full decade building a life together before getting married. Capturing a ten-year relationship required more than standard posing—it demanded a hybrid narrative short film and editorial photo suite. Built around a present-day date night, the film relies on quiet, real-time interactions between the couple to trigger visual flashbacks tracing the key chapters of their journey.

The Challenge

Eliminating artificial, scripted posing across a demanding two-day production. The shoot moved through four distinct environments: their home, university grounds, a provincial park lakeside picnic, and the Toronto waterfront at night. The technical challenge was maintaining seamless visual, narrative, and color continuity between organic daylight scenes and high-contrast night cinematography.

The Approach

We took an immersion-first approach, living alongside the couple for couple of days to study their unscripted dynamics, internal jokes, and body language before rolling takes. The flashback memory sequences were captured with handheld camera work and natural daylight to keep the home and park scenes intimate and raw. For the present-day date narrative, we shifted to controlled off-camera flash and stabilized tracking shots, framing them against the glowing Toronto skyline.
